Dr. Gary Schwartz, former Harvard and Yale professor, is now senior professor at the University of Arizona in psychology, medicine, neurology, and psychiatry.  In addition to teaching courses, he directs research at the Laboratory for Advances in Consciousness & Health.

Dr. Schwartz received a two million-dollar award from the National Center on Complementary and Alternative Medicine of the National Institutes of Health.  This funding created the Center for Frontier Medicine in Biofield Science at the University of Arizona that he directed for four years.  Schwartz was the founding president of the Academy for Advances in Postmaterial Sciences.

He collaborated with Canyon Ranch on biofield science and energy healing research and served as the Corporate Director of Development of Energy Healing.  Dr. Schwartz also served as Chairman of Eternea, an organization whose mission is to foster the integration of science and spirituality for personal and global transformation.

After receiving his master’s degree from Harvard in clinical psychology, he earned a PhD there in psychophysiology.  He was an assistant professor at Harvard for five years.   Schwartz later became a tenured professor of psychology and psychiatry at Yale University, directed the Yale Psychophysiology Center, and co-directed the Yale Behavioral Medicine Clinic.  He joined the faculty of the University of Arizona as a senior professor in 1988.

Books and Scientific Papers

Dr. Schwartz published more than 450 scientific papers, including six in the prestigious journal Science.  He co-edited eleven academic books and authored twelve others.  The latter include The Sacred Promise, The G.O.D. Experiments, The Afterlife Experiments, The Truth About Medium, The Living Energy Universe, and Greater Reality Living (co-authored with Dr. Pitstick).

Dr. Schwartz is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the American Psychological Society, the Society for Behavioral Medicine, and the Academy for Behavioral Medicine Research. He has received many awards for distinguished research and was the founding President of the Forever Family Foundation, a  non-profit organization that fosters research and education on afterlife science and healing.

He frequently speaks about health psychology, energy healing, and survival of consciousness research and has been interviewed on many major network television and radio shows.  Dr. Schwartz’s work has been the subject of documentaries and profiles on Discovery, HBO, the SciFi Channel, Arts & Entertainment, Fox and others.  His research was featured in the documentary The Life After Death Project and has been described in various magazines and newspapers including USA Today, The London Times, The New York Times, The LA Times, and others.
